Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- perform yarn tests each morning from yarn processing, check fancy yarn for shade & twist, EIB, grain weights, tensile testing, and cone cutting for shade issues
- operate the EIB yarn tester for testing of yarns, check calibration, and set up new yarns
- operate Uster tester
- report off quality problems found to the Quality Assurance Coordinator, notify yarn processing and package dye immediately
- test incoming purchased yarn, label reeling for shade approval, to also serve as permanent retain of lot
- file paperwork generated from the yarn testing and maintain files
- package and identify standard fabric rolls and put on location, maintain master files & rooms
- use of computer and AS400 system
- keep working area clean and neat, dispose of yarn and fabric waste
- back up shade passer when needed
- assist with training of new associates to the department
- contact maintenance when needed for repairs
- ability to travel to other facilities as needed

- calibrate needle beds, stitch cams and yarn feeders
- perform routine preventative maintenance on industrial knitting machines, industrial sewing machines and water conditioning equipment for steam tables according to established check lists and as otherwise assigned
- change over technical machine programs, assist with any other change over needs as requested
- perform routine equipment lubrication and cleaning including spare equipment, machine overhauls and daily/weekly tasks
